Jenny Core is a British Visual Artist living and working in Berlin, Germany, and exhibits her drawing works internationally. Core’s artist practice explores innovative ways of working in contemporary drawing. She loves the unique process of drawing, “Every mark you make is unique, no other can be made like it”, (Jenny Core).

Splats, lines and marks on a page, contribute to the creation of Core’s process led abstract drawings. On her investigation to experiment more with contemporary drawing, she draws with objects rather than observing objects. This process of chance and play, creates abstract scenes that are a vessel for many images.

Jenny Core’s artwork is featured in private and public collections across the globe, including UK, Berlin, Norway, Denmark, LA & NYC.

Exhibitions include: Exchange Rates, Norte Maar @ Schema Projects, Brooklyn, New York. USA (2014); Snow in Summer, Peek-A-Boo Gallery, Perth. AU (2014); Anonymous Drawings 2014, Pavillon am Millchof, Berlin. DE (2014); Supermarket Stockholm Art Fair, represented by Paper Gallery, Stockholm. SE (2014); Twitter Art Exhibition, Exhale Unlimited (E.U.) Gallery, Los Angeles. USA (2013); 60 Drawings Exhibition, Bankley Studios & Gallery, Manchester. UK (2012); Drawing Connections. Siena Art Institute. Italy (2011); Cross My Art. 210 Pentonville. London. UK (2010).

Awards include: ArtSlant Juried Winner, Drawing Category. (2015); Shortlisted for the PS Mirabel Open Exhibition Award 2014. Manchester. UK (2014); Special Recognition Award, Abstract Competition, Light Space & Time Online Gallery, USA (2013); Shortlisted for the Neo: Artrpize 2012, Bolton (2012); Artist of the Week. Salon Contemporary. London. UK (2011); Short-listed for the Art & Escape Awards. Art & Escape Gallery, Hertfordshire. UK (2010).

Find out more about her contemporary approach to drawing on the Gallery page of the website.

Jenny Core’s work  is about the process rather than the end product – they are a performance, almost where what remains is a mark of an object that once existed. These works invite your imagination in.

– Rebecca Gordon, Curator at Rise Art (2014).
